Jez Groves - Bass Guitar Dep - Live Work
An ability to be adaptive and versatile.
I bring experience, professionalism, kick ass equipment and my own transport.
I promise NOT to "jazz" or "blues" over your hard worked set.
I promise to play the bass, the whole bass and nothing but the bass!
I am very comfortable working to both conventional monitors and (IEM) in ear monitoring.
I am very comfortable working to click tracks.
Function work: Weddings and functions form the bulk of my work. I have over 20 years experience of playing at these type of events. I get regular dep work with high end function bands such as Funk Brother Soul Sister, Alleycatz, Studio 54, Glitterball, Motown Gold and The Motown Collective.
Tribute Artists: I have the privilege of depping for Magic Queen (Europe's No:1 Queen Tribute Act) at various UK festivals and theatre shows and I would love to do more of this sort of work.
I also dep regularly for Northern Soul specialists Sold on Soul.
Pubs and Clubs: I spent 6 years fronting a trio working the pub/club circuit (35 - 40 gigs a year) so am more than comfortable with the pub/club rock/blues genre. Recent dep gigs have included working with South London based, indi band, Might_Be_Cats.
Pit Bands: Yes, I read music! I'll caveat that by confessing that I don't read enough to sight read on the night but, if you want to send me the dots in advance, I can play to scores if required. House band deps have included at The Hideaway Club in Streatham. Also at The Hard Rock Hotel, Marble Arch, with scouse sensation Joe Slater.
I have dep'd for musicals of Wicked, Grease and Rocky Horror Show too.
Original Artists: I am currently holding the bass chair for both '80s popsters, Daniel Takes A Train and the Jane Smith project - most notably supporting Scouting For Girls at 2022's Orpington Priory Festival .
I am always open to working on other original projects.
